Discovery Homework

• We’ll send your discovery questionnaire to you to complete approximately 1 week prior to our kickoff meeting date. We request that you complete the questionnaire at least 2 business days prior to our kickoff meeting.

• We’ll review your completed questionnaire and compile follow-up questions to discuss in our meeting.

Website Kickoff Meeting

This meeting is approximately 60–90 minutes long

• We'll discuss your discovery questionnaire responses, dig deeper into areas of interest, and walk through the plan for your website together. This is your key opportunity to relay your vision, needs, and ideas you have to us before we get started creating your website.

Wireframes

This timeline for this phase varies depending on the number and complexity of the pages.

• During this step, we will create a high-level wireframe for each page of your website. You can think of these wireframes as similar to the blueprints for a house—they help us plan the flow and structure of the page content, but do not reflect the visual design or implementation of your brand yet at this point.

• We will walk you through the wireframes via video in order to thoroughly explain the details of each page. We find this video presentation method enables us to communicate with you with the fluidity of a conversation but removes any pressure to respond immediately. We will also attach a .pdf proof of the wireframes for your further review after watching the video. We request review and feedback within 2-3 business days.

• Our custom WordPress website design engagements include one round of revisions to each deliverable, so if you have feedback or concerns about any of the wireframes we can refine them according to your feedback. If iteration is desired, it typically takes anywhere from a few days to a week, depending on the magnitude of the requests. We request review and feedback to iterations within 2-3 business days. Please note that refinements consist of iterations to the presented concept not the creation of new concepts, and refinement rounds are non-transferrable between deliverables.

• If needed, additional rounds of refinements are always available for you—we want you to love your website! Additional refinement rounds will be billed separately in half-day increments priced at $300 each.

Copywriting + Content Assembly

• Either once the wireframes are completed, or concurrently with the development of the wireframes, the copywriting for your website should begin. Depending on the details of your specific project scope, this may mean that you will be writing the content, or it may mean our copywriter gets started writing. When designing a website it is always best to “design the content” not what we think the content will be, so we request that the website copy be completed within two weeks so that we will have it prior to completion of the page layouts.

• Also during this time, you may need to collect or procure additional content pieces that will be included on the website. This may include things like: Team headshot photos, office/business photos, case study images, client logos, client testimonials, certification logos, award logos, videos, etc.

Page Designs

This phase typically takes about 4 weeks, depending on the complexity of the website design and functionality.

• Once the wireframes are approved, we will begin designing the pages of your website, starting with the most detailed and critical page design—in most cases this will be the home page design. We start with the most design-rich page because it creates the largest “playground” for us to begin developing the system of website components that will carry through the rest of the website. Once the home page design is approved, we will design the rest of the website page designs in small batches.

• Once a page design is ready for review, We will walk you through each page design via video in order to thoroughly explain the details of each page. We will also attach a .pdf proof of each page for your further review after watching the video. We request review and feedback within 2-3 business days.

Development + QA

This phase typically takes at least 4 weeks, depending on the complexity of the website design and functionality.

• Once all of the page designs are approved, we prepare the files and provide them to the developer who will be working on the project.

• The developer will take the finished design and builds out the designs into a near-pixel-perfect custom WordPress website theme and develops and implements any advanced technologies. At this point, the website is hosted on the developer’s test server until it is ready to launch.

• If needed/desired, we will also set up 301-redirects from your previous website to ensure you don’t lose any SEO juice, and install your Google Analytics tracking code as part of the website development process.

• When the site build is complete, we will review it internally and test it on several devices and browsers to ensure it is as close to perfect as possible. Once we feel the site is ready, we will send you a link to the test site for your review.

• We request review and feedback on the test site within 2-3 business days. At this point, the site should be nearly ready to launch and iteration is not expected or included in most project scopes—we're looking for you to review for bugs and accuracy only.

• If your review reveals any bugs or errors, they will be addressed within a few days. Upon resolution of any bugs or errors, the test site will be resubmitted for your review and approval.

Launch + Training

• Upon approval of the test site, we will move the site to your hosting and push it live. However, please note that it can take up to a day for the servers to update fully, and the site may be a bit glitchy in the first few hours. Know this is a completely normal and unavoidable part of the website launch process.

• Once your site is launched, we will coordinate with you to schedule a 60-minute video call to train you on the basics of how to make updates to your new WordPress website.

• Upon receipt of full payment, full ownership of the website is released to you.
